This is a bibliography of the cane toad, Bufo marinus. It includes citations from all fields. The only criterion for inclusion in this bibliography is mention of B. marinus. Most effort has been directed towards locating publications which deal with natural history, disease, microorganisms and physiology. Citations are taken largely from journals and monographs. Little effort has been spent locating all references to B. marinus in general texts on amphibians or in the popular press.

At this time (28 March 1991) the bibliography is incomplete. There are still references to be included, particularly in the field of experimental physiology. In addition the accuracy of many references has yet to be verified. Only about 50% have been personally sighted by the author. Comments following individual citations indicate doubts concerning accuracy.

This bibliography was compiled by the author and his assistants, Patricia O'Shea, Marion Hulme and Wendy Phillips, over the years 1988 to 1991. The author and the first two assistants were supported by funds from the Council of Nature Conservation Ministers (CONCOM) during 1988-1989. Support in 1990 was provided by a Prestige Research Grant from James Cook University.

There is no restriction placed on users of this bibliography apart from that of acknowledgment in written publications.
