Brief Curriculum Vitae:
      Prof Baune is a medical graduate (MB, BS) and he completed his Medical Doctorate (German PhD-equivalent, 3-year research program) with distinction (summa cum laude) in 1997. Dr. Baune received his specialist training as a psychiatrist (German Fellowship, 2002). In addition, he was trained as an epidemiologist (MPH, Hons 2001). Dr. Baune has extensive international research experience in Germany, London, Israel and now Australia.
      Prof Baune’s main area of research expertise and interest is in cognitive neuroscience, genetics, psychopharmacology and epidemiology of mental disorders where he carried out a wide range of scientific psychiatric research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator within national and international co-operations.
      After Prof Baune had established the research group Epidemiology and Genetics of Affective Disorders at the University of Munster, Germany, he took up his current position as Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine, James Cook University where he founded the research stream of Mental Health Biology.

      Prof Baune is reviewer of a number of international scientific journals such as Biological Psychiatry, World Journal of Biological Psychiatry, American Journal of Epidemiology, Psychotherapy & Psychosomatics, European Psychiatry, International Psychogeriatrics and Preventive Medicine. He is academic editor of the PLoS One journal.
