Continuing Professional Development

The new Dental Board of Australia (DBA) came into existence in 2010. Surrounding this development came new requirements for dental professionals, including the need for mandatory CPD activities, such as lectures, reading, assignments, clinical updates and master classes, so that registered practitioners can update, maintain and develop clinical skills throughout a practising career. James Cook University offers a series of professional development lectures (CPD) in support of this new requirement of the DBA.

Costs

It is envisaged that an attendance charge will be levied in the future to cover the travel costs of invited lecturers and the provision of CPD certificates, but the present series is free to attendees.

Forthcoming CPD events

These events are open to all dental professionals. Typically, one of JCU’s CPD events is worth 1 CPD point and certificates are posted to participants after each event. Each event typically consists of a live speaker at one site (usually the JCU campus in Cairns) and video conference to other sites (usually Townsville, Mackay and Mount Isa.)

If you would like to sign up for the monthly invitations and links to recorded lectures please email stephanie.archer@jcu.edu.au to add your email address.
