Biography

Adam Brown has recently taken up an appointment as Lecturer in Digital Imaging in the School of Creative Arts at James Cook University,

Queensland, Australia. Prior to this appointment, he was employed as course leader for BA.(Hons) Photography and Media Arts and Photography and Video at University for the Creative Arts, Maidstone, UK.

As a practicing artist, he makes work using photographic and electronic media, usually in the form of installation, and dealing with issues of individual and social human interaction with/in architectural space.

He has presented papers to the 2007 INSEA European Regional Congress at Heidelberg, Germany, and to conferences organized by the Design History Society and the Association of Art Historians in the UK.He recently completed a Teaching and Learning Fellowship at UCA exploring reflective and critical practices in the context of new media and creative technologies. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.

What New Media Art means to me

I like work that confuses and surprises, I like being asked by people what software I used, and telling them I used my hands, I like the sound of a screwdriver on brushed aluminium.
