Terms of Reference

Purpose

The Academic Support Advisory Committee is an advisory committee to the Senior Management Group and to the Academic Board, through the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Information Services and Technologies) and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Staff Development and Student Affairs) on:

Planning and policy development relating to the provision of academic and student support services in the University
The deployment of specific-purpose funds provided for the development of academic and student support infrastructure in or used by the University

Membership

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Information Services and Technologies)	Chair to rotate annually between the two PVCs
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Staff Development and Student Affairs)
Deputy Vice-Chancellor
Pro-Vice-Chancellor of each faculty or their nominee, at least one of whom must be located in Cairns
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Cairns and Academic Planning and Development) or nominee
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & International) or nominee
Pro -Vice-Chancellor (Corporate and Commercial) or nominee
Chair, Academic Board or nominee from amongst the Academic Board
One postgraduate and one undergraduate representative or nominee of the Student Association

The Committee has the power to co-opt other members. It is expected that Heads of Academic Support Division programs will be in attendance at each meeting as required. At present these include:

Director, Information Services
Director, Information Technology and Resources
Director, Student Affairs
Director, Teaching and Learning Development

All members of the Committee shall not be of the same gender

Frequency

At least 3 times per year

Responsibility for Servicing

Divisional Executive Officer (Academic Support)

Sub Groups

The committee may establish sub-committees as it considers necessary to advise it on specific matters.
