Who is eligible for an OS-HELP loan at JCU?
A student must be an Australian citizen or the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa. To be selected for OS-HELP assistance in relation to a six-month study period, students must:

not have received OS-HELP on more than one other occasion.

not have been granted an OS-HELP loan by another higher education institution for an overlapping six month study period.

be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study at JCU.

have already completed at least 1 EFTSL (i.e., 24 units) of study towards their course at JCU, as either:
-
a Commonwealth supported student
-
a contributing student under the Higher Education Funding Act 1988 (a HECS student), or
-
an exempt student who was exempt on the basis of receiving a merit-based equity scholarship.

be enrolled in full-time study with an overseas higher education institution or the overseas campus of an Australian higher education provider for study that commences on or after 1 January 2005 and for which the student will be outside Australia while undertaking the study.

receive credit for the overseas study towards their course at JCU.
-
still have at least 0.5 EFTSL (12 units) of study yet to complete in their course on returning from their overseas study.

not have been subject to more than one penalty for academic misconduct under JCU’s Student Academic Misconduct Requirements.

not have been found guilty of inappropriate conduct under JCU’s Student Conduct Policy.

have achieved an overall Grade Point Average for their course of study of 4 or higher.

provide a Tax File Number or a Certificate of Application for a Tax File Number.

complete and sign an OS-HELP debt confirmation form.
