Is counselling confidential?

We are registered psychologists and follow the Australian Psychological Society's Professional Code of Ethics (2007). This means that your information remains confidential and we will only disclose it with your written permission.

The exceptions to this are:

  • where there is a clear risk to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others

  • where mandatory disclosure is required by law

  • where we are subpoenaed by a court of law.

The APS Charter for Clients of Psychologists is on display in our reception area, along with our Policy for Management of Personal Information. You are welcome to ask us for further information or discuss this issue with your counsellor.

All our clients are asked to read and sign our Confidentiality consent form and encouraged to discuss confidentiality with us.
