Services for staff

JCU staff consult us about strategies and services for specific student groups, including first years and those with a placement component. We will help identify the issues shared by the student group, and develop and provide timely and specific psychological assistance.

We can provide resources, strategies and information for staff to incorporate into their work.

We can run faculty-specific workshops and psycho-education sessions for students, either imbedded in or as an addition to the academic program.

Examples include workshops for Education students prior to placement, focusing on how to communicate with their supervising teacher, school staff and parents; or a group session with support staff about how to manage difficult situations.

We provide Critical Incident Stress Management support which includes educative programs, support for victims, witnesses and helpers, debriefing services, trauma counselling, and trauma recovery. The Manager, Counselling is the Trauma Response Co-Ordinator. Please contact us for more information.

JCU staff can access professional, confidential, free counselling through the Employee Assistance Program. For appointments and enquiries call 1300 360 364 or visit www.davcorp.com.au
