Changing your course

If you wish to apply for course transfer (including enrolling in Honours) you need to have studied for at least one teaching period.

To apply you must submit a completed Course Transfer application form to:

There are four application forms, to avoid delays in processing your application be sure to complete the correct one:

If you are not confident you will be accepted into your preferred course, you can list up to 3 preferences on your application. It is important to ensure that you have the necessary prerequisite subjects at Queensland Year 12 level (or equivalent) before submitting your application. Your application will be forwarded to an Associate Dean or Faculty Registrar for approval.

If you are applying for any of the following courses - Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Dentistry or Veterinary Science - you must also submit the appropriate internal application form available online or from the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences by the due date.

Assessment for some of these courses is not done until 16 January 2009. You may be approved for a lower preference in another faculty before being assessed for your highest preference. If this is the case you will be advised. Applications should be lodged as soon as possible, at least six weeks before the start of the study period, that is, 12 January 2009 for Study Period 1.

If you intend to transfer course, do not enrol in subjects for your current course for the same study period.

If successful, international students will be sent a new offer. To accept this offer, you will need to complete the Acceptance and Payment Agreement form and return it to JCU by the lapse date.

All other students whose Course Transfer application is approved will be admitted to your highest approved preference and notified by email when you can start enrolling in your subjects.

If your application is unsuccessful, you will be advised and remain enrolled in your current course. If you do not wish to continue your current course, you will need to formally withdraw from any future enrolled subjects and from the course.

Changing your major

If you decide to change major within your course you cannot do so online. You will need to consult with your faculty. If approved, and once your Study Plan has been modified, you will be able to continue enrolling online through eStudent into the subjects for the new major. You cannot change your major after the census date.

Applying for advanced standing (credit for previous studies)

When changing course, you may also want to apply for advanced standing for the subjects you have already completed – these subjects are not automatically credited to the new course. Please complete the advanced standing section of your Course Transfer Application form.
