Enrolling in the Honours program
Honours programs are available to students who have received approval from the relevant Head of School.
If you intend applying for Honours, you should contact your School to apply for entry to the Honours program and submit a completed Application for course transfer form as soon as possible to:
-
Townsville: Your Faculty Office
-
Cairns: Student Enquiry Centre
Australian and New Zealand students
You must contact your school to apply for entry to the Honours program and submit a completed Appl ication to Change Course – Undergraduate Courses form to your Faculty Office (Townsville) or Student Enquiry Centre (Cairns) as soon as possible (other than fourth-year psychology – see below). Honours programs are available to students who have received approval from the relevant Head of School.
Commonwealth supported students must also submit a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form (available from your Faculty Office or the Student Enquiry Centre) for the new course. You will be advised of the outcome of your Honours application and, if successful, your Application to Change Course – Undergraduate Courses form will serve as your application for enrolment.
International students
As a JCU student, you are required to submit your letter of invitation to Honours to the International Student Centre. You will be made a new Offer of Placement and a new Confirmation of Enrolment will be issued upon your acceptance of the offer. The new offer contract will quote tuition fees based on the year of commencement in the new course. This means that the tuition fee may be higher than your previous course. You should contact Immigration to apply for an extension of your student visa.
Applying for fourth-year Psychology
Completed Application for honours – where JCU is not the home institution forms are due to the School of Arts and Social Sciences by 14 November for 2009 entry. If you are currently a JCU student, see the School for the relevant form. Students cannot start fourth-year psychology mid-year.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome in December and if successful will be sent the appropriate enrolment documentation to complete.
All students
While Honours students are not in fact postgraduate students, they are invited to attend the Postgraduate and Honours Students' Induction Day, held on both the Townsville and Cairns campuses in March or April, as much of the information given on that day is invaluable for Honours students. Further information may be obtained by checking the Postgraduate Bulletins Board found at JCU News and Events or by contacting:

Townsville: Graduate Research School 07 4781 5575

Cairns: Student Enquiry Centre
