Changes to Student Identification Numbers
From 2008 all student ID numbers will reduce from ten to eight digits. To convert your 10 digit ID to your new 8 digit number, simply replace the first two digits with ‘1’ and drop off the last number.
For example: 071234562 ------ 0712345623 ----- 11234562
You do NOT need a new student card if yours still has the old student number on it – it will still work. Convert to using the new number wherever you can.
