On Campus Gym/Fitness Centre

The Student Association Fitness Centre located near the main oval is a fully air-conditioned gym and has qualified fitness instructors. It includes a range of machine weights, cardio equipment and fitness classes. Personal training, fitness assessments and sports specific programming are available. Group fitness options include pilates, yoga, circuit training, self defence, and boot camp. Social Sport

Social sports ideas include touch football, basketball, soccer or even freesbie, American football touch and volleyball. Rugby Union Club

The JCU Mariners Rugby Club is a university-based club that competes in the Cairns & District Rugby Union competition. The club is proudly sponsored by JCU. Recreation Centre

The Marlin Coast Recreational Centre is located across the highway from the campus. It is managed by the YMCA and provides facilities for basketball, indoor netball and indoor soccer.

Swimming Pool

The Marlin Coast Swimming Pool complex is a public pool and includes a 50 metre outdoor pool and a 25 metre indoor heated pool. The complex is located across the highway from the campus. Entry for Student Association members is $3 per visit or $55 per 20 visits.

A variety of swimming and fitness classes are available including:

• swim squad (Monday and Wednesday, 5.45pm – $4 not including entry),

• aqua aerobics (Monday 8.00am, Tuesday 6.00pm, Thursday 9.15am – $12 includes entry).
