The Student Association is independent of the University and works to provide you with services, representation and non-academic activities. The services we offer reflect the nature of student life and operate to meet your needs while on campus. The Association represents students at a number of different levels: to the University, to the community, and to the Government - both on a local basis, and state-wide. One of the most important reasons the Association exists is to represent you in any disputes and discussions that arise within the University. The Student Association ensures the University considers students’ needs when making important decisions.

Academic Support
Commencing university studies can be both exciting and daunting. No matter what difficulties you may encounter it is always important to remember that free and confidential advice is available. The Student Association provides an Academic Support Service to assist you with individual concerns. The Service researches and promotes education issues to ensure that you receive a quality education.

University Jargon
University has it’s own unique language… HECS, subject codes, prerequisites, lectures, tutes, timetables. Professional staff are available to assist you to decipher the jargon.

Academic Issues
Every process in the University is surrounded by a maze of rules and procedures. We can assist you make sense of all of these rules and set you on the right path.
At times you may experience interaction with the University’s operations or University staff members that may require independent advice/advocacy to assist to resolve the matter.

Examination Options
Circumstances may present that may seriously impact on your examination performance, we can assist you with advice regarding: deferred exams, special consideration or organising special requirements for sitting your exams.

• Health Promotion Programs - such as Drinksmart, mental health programs and free condoms
• Free Tax Help Program to assist students with straight-forward wage/salary returns
• Represent student requests for improved services and facilities in relation to personal safety and equitable access.
