Assistance for undergraduate students

Undergraduate students may be able to gain financial assistance from the Federal Government in the form of Youth Allowance, Austudy or Abstudy. JCU also offers a number of scholarships for undergraduate students.

Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy

The Federal Government provides financial assistance to students through the Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy schemes. Eligibility for this assistance depends on students meeting certain conditions, which may include residential status, previous study and means (income) testing. Assistance for postgraduate students

Australian Postgraduate Award with stipend

A limited number of Australian Postgraduate Awards with stipend is available to PhD and Masters by research students. The stipend is valued at around $17 600 per annum and is payable in fortnightly instalments. Successful applicants must have completed four years of tertiary education and have achieved a first class honours degree or the equivalent. Application forms are available from the Office of Research Higher Degrees.
