Learning and Teaching Performance Fund
Overview
The fund has been established by the Australian Government to recognise excellence in teaching and learning and to promote the overall quality of undergraduate education.
In 2006 the Learning and Teaching Performance Fund allocated funding of $54.6 million, increasing to $83.5 million in 2007 and $113.8 in 2008 as part of a renewed focus on teaching quality in Australian universities.
The fund will reward those institutions that best demonstrate excellence in learning and teaching.
Learning and Teaching Performance Fund allocations will be determined in two stages.

Stage 1 - Universities are required to demonstrate eligibility for funding by providing evidence of a strong commitment to learning and teaching evidenced by a systematic support framework, including policies and processes. No funding is attached to Stage 1.

Stage 2 - Institutions are be assessed on their performance in learning and teaching using the following indicators:

Student progress - commencing
JCU participation in the LTPF
JCU participates in the processes of the Fund looking to enhance the quality of learning and teaching, as outlined in the JCU Learning and Teaching Plan.
In addition to the Learning and Teaching Plan, JCU has policies and programs in relation to:

the role of teaching evaluation in promotion and probation, and

the use of student evaluations.
