Membership Requirements for the Teaching and Learning Academy
Membership to the Academy will bring with it the usual features of a professional membership, that is, discipline around professional development, an independent disciplinary voice and a set of professional ethics and standards for university educators at JCU.
Membership categories include:

Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) or Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) Citation Recipients,

ALTC or DEEWR OLT Program Award Recipients,
-
JCU Faculty Citation Recipients,
-
Staff with extensive teaching and learning publishing records,
-
Staff with significant teaching and learning roles in Schools, Faculties or Divisions, for example:

Associate Dean Teaching and Learning,
-
Faculty Scholar,
-
Curriculum Scholar,
-
Director Teaching and Learning in School/Discipline/Department,

Course Coordinator,
-
Faculty Registrar,
-
Academic Adviser.

Staff with a leadership role in relation to a Curriculum Refresh project,

Staff with another significant teaching and learning role, for example:

Recognised by peers as an outstanding teacher,

Learning Adviser,
-
Academic Developer,
-
First Year Coordinator.

There will be two-yearly requirements to maintain membership, in the form of a collection of professional development points obtained through attendance and participation at in-house seminars and workshops, presentations or attendances at teaching and learning related conferences, publications in teaching and learning, and teaching and learning grants and awards or continued service in a significant teaching and learning role.
