Selection panels
At Faculty level, the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee should be established to select up to 3 recipients of Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, using the guidelines detailed above. The Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee will assess the extent to which the claims for support of student learning are evident in formal and informal evaluation.
At institutional level, the JCU Teaching Awards and Grants Selection Committee will be comprised of:

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor

The Director of Teaching and Learning Development

The four Associate Deans, Teaching and Learning or their delegates

One student member as determined by the Director of Teaching and Learning Development and the Student Association.
Additionally, up to two other members may be co-opted to bring specialist expertise, e.g. in ICT or as previous award recipients.
Not all members of the Panel are to be of the same gender. Where the gender criterion is not met the Chair of the selection committee may nominate another staff member to serve on the panel.
The JCU Teaching Awards and Grants Selection Committee will:

select the most outstanding of the Faculty citation recipients as the Vice Chancellor's Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning; and

rank the Faculty award recipients for nomination for the Carrick Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

A ranked list of nominations endorsed by the JCU Teaching Awards and Grants Selection Committee will be forwarded to the Carrick Institute. Documents provided to the Carrick Institute should include:

a completed Citations Nominations Summary (proforma provided: Form 3) . This form details: the proposed citation wording for each nomination; the ranking of nominations; each nomination's selected criterion/criteria for selection.

for each endorsed nomination, an original and three copies of the nomination form (Form 4) and written statement. Note: references and additional materials are not to be included.
