Teaching Grants & Awards
Each year JCU awards up to 12 Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning of $4000 each to recognise and reward the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning. A maximum of 3 are awarded in each Faculty.
These Citations are awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period, whether they are academic staff, general staff, sessional staff or institutional associates.
The Faculty Citations are ranked by the JCU Teaching Awards and Grants Selection Committee and the highest ranked Faculty Citation is awarded the Vice-Chancellors Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning ($10 000).
The Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education also offers a national Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning ($10 000). The JCU Teaching Awards and Grants Selection Committee selects up to 10 applications for consideration by Carrick. These are drawn from the Faculty Citations and any applications received from Divisional staff. Divisional staff may submit their applications directly to the office of the DVC.
Carrick Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning are one of the Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching. People who are awarded Carrick Citations are widely recognised for their achievements within the nominating institution and have received strong institutional endorsement.
