This is one of the most valuable time management tools. The planner (formerly called a "semester timetable" shows the total weeks of a study period plus lecture recess and study vacation. The idea is to put all of your obligations for each subject, as well as personal obligations and projects. It is the big picture of what you are going to achieve for the duration of your subjects and deserves pride of place on your wall in your study area.
If you are studying in a flexible or self-paced mode you can use this tool by simply modifying the number of weeks in which you aim to complete the course.
This timetable should include the weeks when the following events occur:
assignments are due
tests or exams are scheduled
tutorial presentations are due
the time you plan to read and research for assignments
the time you plan for writing, re-writing and proofreading your assignments
non study projects and obligations
