Creative Queenslanders invited to make their mark on Australia’s #startupstate

Queensland startups, entrepreneurs and creative thinkers with a keen eye for design are invited to submit a logo concept to brand the Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur in a competition that opened this week.

The office, led by Australia’s first chief entrepreneur Mark Sowerby (pictured above), will select the logo that best represents the energy, persistence and creativity of Queensland’s entrepreneurs.

The winning logo will brand all of the office’s activities and its high-profile campaigns to inspire entrepreneurship, to cement Queensland’s status as the startup state, and to highlight the strength of the state’s startup sector to local, national and international investors.

As well as official acknowledgement as the logo’s creator, the winner will receive a place on the world-first Venturer program with globetrotting adventurer and ‘Best Job in the World’ winner Ben Southall, a double pass to Creative3 and double passes to all sessions of the office’s pop-up entrepreneur series.

Chief entrepreneur Mark Sowerby said the competition would ensure Queenslanders and the startup community were involved and represented in every element of the office’s work inspiring people to change their life and become an entrepreneur.

“Every entrepreneur wants to make a permanent mark on an organisation, but who manages to achieve this as literally as the person who designs the logo?” Mr Sowerby said.

“This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial designer to showcase their talent and vision, put their stamp on this Australian-first initiative and put Queensland on the global startup stage.”

The competition is open now to all Queensland residents and closes at 5pm on Friday 21 April. For more information about the competition guidelines, terms and conditions and to submit a design visit Advance.qld.gov.au/oqcelogo
