@JCU Discussion Day – Agriculture/aquaculture research

Discussion Day – Agriculture/aquaculture research capacity at JCU

Date: 8th February 2016

Time: 8.30am to 3pm

Venue: ATSIP conference room – 145-030

Please RSVP to attend to Yvette.williams@jcu.edu.au

We look forward to seeing you at this event.

Aim: With the growing agenda for the development of Northern Australia and the challenging issues of food security in the Global Tropics the time is ripe to assess the contribution that James Cook University can make in terms of research, knowledge, skills development and innovation. At present there is no clear articulation, externally or internally, of our offering in agriculture and a limited presentation of our aquaculture research capability. This Discussion Day will provide the opportunity for all of us to better understand the current capacity of James Cook University to undertake research and knowledge brokerage for Australian/Tropical agriculture/aquaculture which would align with future funding opportunities. The canvas is broad, from hydrology and soil science, through livestock and crop production to social and economic sciences.

Discussions will be led by Prof Iain Gordon – DVC for DTES
