@JCU Ecuador Earthquake fundraising event May 10 and May 17
On April 16th a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador causing a massive destruction. Sadly, tragic consequences of this event include over 600 casualties, 28 people missing, and more than 22000 made homeless.
James Cook University has a significative group of international students from Latin America. The JCU Latin American Student Association (LASA) is seeking the assistance of the JCU community to support the Ecuadorian people, through collaboration with the UNHCR.
They will be raising money on campus in Townsville at Café International in the Education Amphitheatre (Bldg 134, near Miss Sushi) on Tuesday 10th and 17th of May, from 10:30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
All the money raised will be donated directly to the Ecuador Earthquake Appeal opened by UNHCR.
