James Cook University at the 2017 Northern Unigames

Over the past week, 30 students from James Cook University competed in basketball, netball and mixed touch at the 2017 Northern Unigames in Rockhampton. It was a successful games for our students who performed to the best of their abilities.

Our mixed touch team was one of the success stories as they finished undefeated at top of their pool. However, the team fell agonisingly short on the final day to finish fourth in the tournament.

Meanwhile our men’s basketball team also had a successful games. Despite going to the games with only seven players, the team out-performed many other universities to finish 5th with a 6-2 record.

It was a mixed games for the netball team, however they were able to bag a couple of wins. Despite their finish, for many of the players, this was their first Unigames and will only get better.

Full results are available online.

A big congratulations to our students who competed at the games. You all played fantastically and you represented James Cook University with great pride.
