JCU's Green Bike Fleet program narrowly missed out on winning an International Green Gown Award at last Friday's awards in the UK, but should be very proud of being a finalist.

The Green Bike Fleet Program, headed by JCU Manager, Environment, Adam Connell, was a finalist in the Student Engagement category.

The international judges' comment on JCU's program included:

"The judges thought this was a good sustainable project that is easy to replicate with little investment. There is good student engagement and financial packages with little waste. Further evidence on impact was required. Judges would like to see the project develop with different stakeholders and have greater scale and outreach."

Congratulations to Adam and the Green Bike team on their fantastic and inspiring achievement!

The International Green Gown Award winners were:
· Community Innovation: De Montfort University, United Kingdom
· Continuous Improvement: Institutional Change: Universit√© Laval, Quebec, Canada
· Student Engagement: Edinburgh College, United Kingdom
