Accounting students and staff in Cairns welcomed a group of students from Kansas State University in the United States for a workshop recently.

The visit was part of a wider Australian study tour by the US students to Sydney and Cairns, with the northern leg also including a visit MSF Sugar and local tourism venues.

“The students worked together on a case study in transfer pricing, involving a fictitious leisure company based in the US with a technology licensing hub in Singapore, and looking to establish a theme park in Cairns.

“It was a good exercise for the students to investigate the financial, legal and cross-cultural factors involved in transfer pricing, but they also had a lot of fun working together, getting to know each other and learning about what they have in common and what sets them apart.”
