@JCU Let the gardening begin!
Students, staff, Traditional Owners, community members and garden gurus all gathered on the Cairns campus recently to officially launch the new Community Garden.
The garden also has a name chosen by the Traditional Owners. It’s Mayi Tjulbin Ma Bugarra, which means which means: food and fruits, vegetables, trees and berries from the rainforest.
Cairns garden guru Kim Morris did the honours, Community Garden Coordinator Jay Jackson gave a talk on permaculture, Lisa Law and the Community of Gardeners told the history of the garden, and everyone got their hands dirty.
