@JCU Strand Ephemera 2017 Volunteers

Strand Ephemera 2017 is seeking the assistance of members of the community to volunteer at this year’s event.

From 28 July - 6 August the Townsville Strand will be transformed for Strand Ephemera, an outdoor Gallery featuring a range of sculptures and installations created by artists from Australia and overseas.

Volunteers are needed to assist with a range of duties from Monday 24 July to Monday 7 August
·         Installation & Demount Information Desk
·         Drop in Workshops
·         Promotion
·         Event Assistance
·         Cloud

Cloud is an interactive sculpture created from 6,000 incandescent light bulbs by Canadian artists Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett. The piece uses pull chain switches and everyday light bulbs, re-imagining their potential to create an enveloping experience. During the exhibition, viewers work together to animate “lightning” on the surface of the sculpture. Volunteers are required to assist with the monitoring of viewer interaction with Cloud from 6-10pm every night from 28 July to 6 August inclusive.
