This year’s Cultural Festival is co-sponsored by James Cook University and will be held at JCU’s Townsville campus from August 17 to 21.

The launch, which was held last Friday (July 22), included the unveiling of a huge statue of Johnathan Thurston, dancers, other performers and an Indigenous smoking ceremony.

The Cultural Festival is a five-day festival celebrating the cultural depth of Australian society. Showcasing music, dance and creative arts, alongside international cuisine, sports and sideshows. Each year the festival involves over 300 creative arts, cultural, and community groups, making it one of the most inclusive festivals in Australia.
