The Townsville Premiere of The New Hustle will be held 6.30pm on September 13. The New Hustle is an inspiring, humorous feature-length documentary that follows the personal journey of three of Australia’s most successful startups – Canva, Vinomofo and Safety Culture. In a world where the vast majority of startups fail, the film explores what makes this group of founders different.
Directed by Emmy Award winner Patrick Moreau and music by Duncan Thum (Chef's Table), the documentary features raw anecdotes and eye-opening interviews with Safety Culture's Luke Anear, Canva's co-founders Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht and Vinomofo co-founders Andre Eikmeier and Justin Dry, as well as insightful commentary from renowned Silicon Valley VC, Rick Baker (Blackbird Ventures). Watch the trailer here.
The film is to be followed by a Fireside Chat and audience Q&A , facilitated by JCU’s very own Professor Ian Atkinson, with Luke Anear and other founders. Townsville’s Premiere is coinciding with the Safety Culture’s team flying in from around the world for a week at the Townsville headquarters - so a great chance to meet the team. Vinomofo are providing a free glass of wine to kick-start the night on arrival, and JCU students are providing the hospitality.
This special screening promises to be an entertaining, engaging evening for anyone interested in the world of startups and entrepreneurialism. Organise your work, discipline or student group for an inspirational night out.
Tickets are $10, (limited number of subsidised tickets available for students needing financial support - email Nicole.Hawker@jcu.edu.au for details). Ticket sales, and all event details, available here.
