Domestic Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

Domestic Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

Build a thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals in your first year. Deepen your knowledge and focus on theoretical and practical learning. You will study a specialised major plus four elective subjects or a major with one minor.

Gain hands-on skills through laboratory classes and field trips. Participate in twelve weeks of work placements with industry partners – you may have the opportunity for paid work experience.

Students who are based in Townsville and have completed at least one year of their degree are eligible to apply for an Australian Public Service Academy Campus position. With opportunities in the Digital and Data spheres, you can align your studies to part-time work, that may translate into a full-time job offer upon graduation. Explore the APS Data and Digital Programs page for more information.

Studies culminate in the fourth year with an Honours component — a major engineering project and thesis. You will research a current industry issue and work towards designing a solution.

JCU’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is accredited by Engineers Australia, except for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering major in Cairns, which holds provisional accreditation.

Become a world-class engineer. JCU engineering graduates are innovative problem solvers, creative designers and applied scientists involved in a variety of industries.
