Timeline of Centre Establishment

February 2014

A stand-alone entity, nominally titled the Indigenous Centre, was identified on the University’s proposed organisational structure presented to Council.

Late 2014

The Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor formed a small group to consider the reach, functions and structure of the proposed Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Centre (hereinafter referred to as the Centre, although no decision was made in regard to the name or nomenclature of the entity).

April 2015

A confidential Case for Investment in a proposed centre prepared.

April-May 2015

The Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor released a Change Proposal for the structure of the new Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Centre. Consultation sessions were held for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students and staff and students that don’t identify. Written feedback was sent, anonymously if required. People could also give feedback at the consultation sessions.

July 2015

The Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor released the final Change Plan and organisational chart.
