In the leadup to the Celebrating Excellence in Learning and Teaching at JCU: Teaching Excellence Awards, the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Education and the Centre for Education and Enhancement are excited to offer a selection of highly topical lunchtime presentations.

Title: Excellence and equity in and through higher education: responsive programs, pedagogies and curriculum design

Associate Professor Anna Bennett (PhD) is Director of the Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre at the University of Newcastle, Australia which provides pathways, preparation and tasters and academic learning support for over 16,000 domestic and international students every year. Anna’s work is focussed on inclusive approaches to pedagogy, program, course and assessment design, which enable equity of opportunity and success for all students. She is on the Editorial Board of the leading international journal, Teaching in Higher Education and led the Equity Initiatives Framework (EIF), a commissioned national review of access and equity (2015) used by the majority of Australian universities to guide and evaluate programs. She is currently working with her team on updating the framework through conducting another national review, as commissioned by the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (2023). Her total funding is $1,234,229 AUD with the majority competitive national projects and she has produced 73 publications of various types.
