Steve Fisher
Steve FisherDirector at Community Works |
---|
Steve has practical experience in mediation and conflict resolution over twenty-five years of working in community and international development programs. Originally trained in the UK and accredited as a mediator in Australia, he has worked on diverse initiatives including three years as a member of the Forum to the World Commission on Dams, which worked to reduce conflict over water and land use, and in various places where communities and resources companies are seeking to reach agreement, including in Australia, India and Peru.
Steve was recently an evaluation team member for two Amnesty International programs, both of which address conflict in multiple complex settings. He frequently works with Indigenous people and organisations, conducting an action research project with Relationships Australia which led to the publication ‘A Model of Practice for Mediation with Aboriginal Families in Central Australia’. Steve is Director of Community Works, a company based in Victoria. He coordinates the Management in Development (Development Practice) course at the University of Melbourne.
