Leadership Development Program
The College of Business, Law and Governance delivers Leadership Development Programs offering individuals and organisations the opportunity to enhance theoretical knowledge and professional skills through work based learning opportunities.
Explore our modules
Choose from our growing suite of modules to tailor your learning to your development needs. Our modules are designed to build your leadership capabilities and skills across a range of areas, including conflict resolution, human resources, organisational change, budgeting, producing effective business proposals and KPIs, and many more.
Enjoy online and flexible learning
Our modules are delivered using a combination of online and face-to-face practical components, allowing you to fit your learnings around your existing commitments. In each module you will:
- have the opportunity to meet your facilitators and learning support team at the module introductory session;
- attend a full day equivalent masterclass mid-way through the module to start putting your learnings into practice; and
- present or reflect on your learning experience at the final wrap-up.
Interactions, resources and assessment activities for each module will be facilitated in an online capacity through a dedicated LearnJCU site, allowing you to engage when it's convenient for you.
You will receive access to the JCU library and online resources, as well as one-on-one learning support from our Business Online team, for the duration of your study.
Expand your qualifications
Successful completion of each module will earn you one credit point, which can be used towards advanced standing into postgraduate studies at JCU. On completion of 12 modules, you will be eligible to receive the award of Graduate Certificate of Leadership*. While credit points that can be earned through the Leadership Development Program are capped at 12, there is no restriction on the number of modules you can undertake.
*The availability of this award will be confirmed through JCU processes by end of 2018
Get involved with a learning integrated work environment
Module content and assessments engage with your 'real life' work experiences and challenges, with face-to-face sessions structured to allow time for discussion and idea generation. The concept of learning integrated work allows for you to take your learnings and immediately apply them in your own workplace, while also preparing you for future leadership roles.
Engage with your peers
Our modules are designed to provide opportunities for participants to learn from each other. Throughout the course of your learning you will be encouraged to share your own experiences, listen to others' experiences, and consider the impact of your beliefs, thoughts and actions on those you interact with.
Structure your learning
We offer four 8-week study periods across the calendar year, commencing in January, April, July and October. You can elect to complete a single module as a one-off learning opportunity, or engage in a selection of modules over the course of several study periods or years - the choice is entirely up to you.
Get your organisation involved
We can work with you to put together a Leadership Development Program customised to the specific needs of your organisation and its employees. If you're interested in exploring what we can offer get in touch with us today.
