JCU Pharmacy Student Association

Wed, 14 Jun 2017

From the 24th-30th January the National Australian Pharmacy Student Association (NAPSA) hosted its Annual Congress.

James Cook University Pharmacy Student Association members. 14 James Cook University Pharmacy Student Association (JCUPSA) members made up just a small portion of the 350 pharmacy students from across the country who travelled to the host city: Perth. Following their 3395km journey they were met with a huge week of education, networking and social events. Education events varied from medicinal cannabis and dementia, to opioid replacement programs and inspiring rural practice talks. Every topic was 100% relevant to the exciting and rapidly changing pharmacy profession. They also heard talks from major professional bodies such as the SHPA, PSA and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and attended a trade show with more than twenty stalls! By night it was a different picture with a 90s themed opening night, Australia day at Scarborough beach and a gala ball at the Crown Casino, just some of the attractions. All in all they left Perth absolutely exhausted but with an inspired spark in their eyes. JCUPSA is now looking forward to a busy Semester One with a pub crawl, the annual charity cup, a Bunning’s sausage sizzle and their AGM on the calendar.
