Companion Animal Practice

Dr Ruth Sutcliffe, is the Veterinary Sciences Senior Lecturer of Companion Animals.

She graduated from the University of Melbourne with a BVSc in 1987 and worked primarily in small animal general practice as well as in a 24 hour emergency centre. She then obtained membership of the ANZCVS in small animal medicine in 2003 and subsequently undertook a Masters in small animal veterinary studies through Murdoch University. Upon moving to Townsville she joined the new BVSc program as a clinical instructor and lecturer and coordinated the final year program for 10 years, obtaining a Grad Cert in tertiary teaching during this time.  She has also served as a mentor and examiner for the ANZCVS for a number of years, examining in small animal medicine, medicine of cats and small animal practice.

Her clinical interests include endocrinology, dermatology and gastroenterology.
