This scholarship is awarded annually for academic excellence to a student studying Molecular & Cell Biology at the third year level.
It is named for Professor James Burnell, a long-standing member of the Department who both taught at the undergraduate level extensively and mentored many Honours students. When Professor Burnell retired in 2014 the Department renamed the Scholarship to recognise his outstanding contribution to teaching.
The scholarship consists of financial support for a single year of tuition at the Honours level, if taken within a laboratory of the Molecular and Cell Biology Academic Group. More details on eligibility and how to apply can be found on Scholarships@ JCU
