College of Science and Engineering First Year Prize (Cairns)

Awarded to the full-time student who achieves the best overall pass in level 1 of the Bachelor of Engineering at the Cairns campus. Only full-time students who are enrolled in level 2 of the Bachelor of Engineering are eligible for the award.

Value of the prize $100.00 and a certificate

College of Science and Engineering First Year Prize (Townsville)

Division of Tropical Environments and Societies Distinguished Student Prize

Awarded to any student of exceptional merit, within the Division, who do not qualify for the award of a University medal but who have a first class honours degree and an excellent undergraduate weighted average score.

Townsville & District University Society Prize

Awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the Divisional Committee, has been the most outstanding level 1 student in the Division that year.

Awarded to the student who has obtained the best overall result in level 3 Civil Engineering subjects concerned with steel structures- CS3000:03 (Structural Analysis), CS3003:03 (Design of Steel & Concrete Structures).

Bev Frangos Graduate Instructor Prize in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering

Awarded to a Cairns or Townsville student enrolled in a masters or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology who has made an outstanding contribution to teaching in the Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology disciplines. Awarded to the student scoring the highest aggregated mark in the second year core Civil Engineering subjects in a particular year: CS2003  Introduction to Structural Design; CS2005  Introduction to Geotechnical Engineering; and CS2002  Catchment Stream and Lake Engineering

Awarded to the student who obtains the highest pass in the level 3 subjects based on practical work.

Engineers Australia - Queensland Award (C.N. Barton Medal)

Awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the Engineering Committee, has presented the best level 4 thesis seminar.

Value of the prize $400.00 and a commemorative medal

Engineers Australia Electrical Branch Medal

Awarded to the student proceeding into level 2 Electrical Engineering who obtains the highest pass in EG1012:03 (Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Value of the prize $500.00 cash, a commemorative medal and a certificate.

Glencore Prize in Engineering

Awarded to the student who has demonstrated the best overall performance in level 2 engineering subjects and is in the branch of Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering within the degree of Bachelor of Engineering at James Cook University.

I.M. Hunter Prize for Thermodynamics

Awarded to the student who has demonstrated the best overall performance and ability in the subjects ME2512:03 (Thermofluid Mechanics); ME3512:03 (Heat and Mass Transfer); and ME4522:03 (Power Systems and Refrigeration).

IEEE Northern Australia Section First Year Prize

Awarded to the student who obtains the best first year results in a degree program which leads to membership of the IEEE. Eligible students include those from: 1. Bachelor of Engineering - students who have selected Electrical and Electronic or Computer Systems Engineering in second year. 2. Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computing (Computer Technology or IT Professional strand). 3. Any joint degree that includes one of the above

Value of the prize $200.00 plus a one-year student membership of the IEEE

IEEE Northern Australia Section Fourth Year Prize

Awarded to the best fourth year student who is a student member of the IEEE. Eligible students include those from: 1. Bachelor of Engineering - Electrical and Electronic or Computer Systems Engineering; 2. Bachelor of Information Technology; or 3. Any joint degree that includes one of the above.

Value of the prize $300.00 plus a one-year graduate membership of the IEEE

IStructE Australia Division - Annual Student Prize

Awarded to the student exhibiting the highest academic achievement in the structural subjects CS3000 and EG3021.

Value of the prize $250.00 book voucher and a certificate

Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) Prize

Awarded to an outstanding student in the final year of an Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree or Computer Systems Engineering degree, which is mutually accredited by the Institution of Electrical Engineers, Australia (IEAust) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).

Value of the prize $300.00 cash, a certificate and 2 years membership of IET

John McIntyre Engineering Prize

Awarded to the best postgraduate candidate researching disciplines within Civil and Environmental Engineering, in the first year of study. The recipient may be a domestic or overseas student but preference will be given to domestic students.

Mechanical Engineering Prize

Awarded to the student who has completed the Degree of Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, and who has obtained the highest average weighted mark for the whole of the course.

Port of Townsville Limited Prize in Engineering

Awarded to the Townsville campus student who obtains the best weighted average mark in the following level 4 subjects: CS4001:03 (Foundation Engineering & Rock Mechanics); CS4002:03 (Hydraulic & Coastal Engineering); EG4000:03 (Engineering Economics & Entrepreneurship).
