Internet of Things

Internet of things (IoT) is the inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles or other items, embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuator, and communication that enable these objects to “talk” and exchange data – or simply put, making normal things smarter by connecting them. Smarter devices or “Connected devices”, are designed in such a way that they capture and utilise every bit of data which you share or use in everyday life. These devices will use this data to interact with you on daily basis and complete tasks. This new wave of connectivity is going beyond laptops and smartphones, it’s going towards connected cars, smart homes, connected wearables, smart cities and connected healthcare. Basically, a connected life.

The Bachelor of Electronics Systems and Internet of Things Engineering is Australia's 1st Internet of Things Engineering. This full IoT engineering degree is accredited by Engineers Australia and is only offered in Cairns. Our aim is to help our students to be prepared for jobs of the future. To achieve this, we have developed a number of international competitive IoT curriculum to prepare our students with the best and industry relevant skills. In collaboration with Huawei, Optus, Ergon energy, Cairns regional council, we are developing many real-world problems to help our students acquire the best and industry relevant skills.
