Why Study Environmental Science and Management at JCU?

We will provide you with expertise in areas including physical and human geography, urban and regional planning, settlement and landscape design, natural resource management, and protected area management.

Our environmental science and management courses offer field trips, research and work experience in the Townsville and Cairns regions where you can experience the Great Barrier Reef and Queensland’s Wet Tropics. There are also opportunities to study and gain work or research experience internationally.

Environmental science and management graduates will possess skills that will make them competitive for technical, managerial or policy related positions in a range of organisations addressing environmental science and management issues, both nationally and internationally. These include government, consulting firms, research, private sector, and non-governmental organisations.

Matteo - Bachelor of Geology

"We learn a lot about tropical urban design and JCU’s location in the Tropics places it perfectly for that. Sustainability is a key component of the degree, with a real emphasis on sustainable development."
- Matteo (Bachelor of Planning)
