Course pre-requisites

Bachelor of Creative Industries from JCU, completed within previous two years; or

Bachelor of Creative Industries or equivalent AQF level 7 Bachelor Degree from another university, completed within previous 2 years; or

Other qualifications recognised by the Dean, College of Arts, Society and Education as equivalent to the above.

Minimum English l anguage p roficiency r equirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 1Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy.

Additional selection requirements

Minimum overall GPA of 5.0

Submit proposal to Honours coordinator by November 30 of the year preceding study

In the context of a JCU graduate, on successful completion of the Bachelor of Creative Industries with Honours graduates will be able to:

  • Critically reflect on the cultural significance and self-transformative nature of arts practice

  • Generate and critically reflect on knowledge of arts industries or contemporary arts practices, including ethical, moral and/or sustainable practices

  • Develop, research and evaluate ideas, processes and solutions through critical, creative and reflective thinking and perseverance

  • Research, interpret and communicate ideas proficiently and professionally in oral, written, numeric and digital formats, suited to a range of audiences

  • Work independently or in collaboration with others in the arts industry to deliver creative outcomes or generate knowledge about the arts, using relevant research methods

  • Apply research methods to produce an original, technically competent, considered and communicative body of creative work or thesis that demonstrates coherent and advanced knowledge in the creative arts.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Students may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing and Articulation policy and associated procedures.

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 5 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 9 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the student has not completed this course.
