Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8)
Division of Tropical Health and Medicine
Registration as a nurse, doctor of medicine or other health professional in Australia; or
Completion of an appropriate AQF Level 7 Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline, with 2 years relevant experience or equivalent.
Minimum English language proficiency requirements
Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 3a – Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy.

Course learning outcomes
The Graduate Diploma of Health Professional Education enables health professionals working in regional and remote tropical Australia to complete a postgraduate qualification to enhance their teaching and learning skills for students and trainees in all health professions. The course introduces basic and advanced concepts essential for learning, teaching and supervising in clinical settings. Graduates will be equipped with skills to become lead educators for their health profession.
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Health Professional Education will be able to:

Students may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Credit and Articulation policy and associated procedures.

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 6 years prior to the commencement of this course.
Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 11 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the student has not completed this course.

Students who exit the course prior to completion, and have completed 12 credit points of appropriate subjects, may be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate of Health Professional Education
Students who complete this course are eligible for entry to the Master of Health Professional Education. Students may be granted advanced standing for subjects completed under this course.
