Graduate Certificate of Nursing (no specified major):

Design your own study program from a combination of nursing and allied health subjects across a number of disciplines.

Advanced Clinical Practice major:

You will explore and reflect upon health care issues within a framework of contemporary nursing practice, and practise advanced physical nursing assessment, having acquired knowledge and skills in both physiological and pathophysiological processes.

Clinical Education major:

This major will extend the role and function of the health professional to that of qualified clinical educator by developing knowledge and expertise in clinical teaching, and its application for improvement of student education.

Leadership and Management major:

This major is designed for nurses in leadership positions or those being prepared for leadership roles in the future. It sets the strategic direction for services, human resource management and budget preparation and management, with the key responsibility of providing optimum patient care while maintaining patient safety.

Neonatal Care major:

You will develop theoretical knowledge of the 'at risk' newborn, preterm and growth restricted infants, newborns with selected congenital anomalies and infection, breastfeeding and nutrition, which will be applied with a family centred focus using a health promotion framework within the clinical practice setting.

Rural & Remote major:

This major applies an additive model for RIPRN-qualified Registered Nurses, with additional subjects offered by JCU, engaging in theory and clinical learning to enhance your performance in the specialty area of rural and remote practice.
