Graduates of JCU’s Diploma of Technology (Pathway) progress onto Bachelor degrees that lead to careers in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

This course is a pathway to the Bachelor of Information Technology and the Bachelor of Technology and Innovation, majoring in Data Science, providing graduates also meet the relevant English Language entry requirement for the degree.

This course is available to international students only.

Prepare for jobs of the future with JCU’s Diploma of Technology (Pathway). Learn core skills in programming, internet fundamentals, design, data science and mathematics.

Learn how to analyse information and design and communicate solutions to complex technology problems. Choose to specialise in either web design and development or modelling natural systems, depending on your interests.

Kickstart your career in technology and enter a fast-paced, progressive industry. This course is a pathway for international students to study either the Bachelor of Information Technology or the Bachelor of Technology and Innovation (majoring in Data Science) at JCU.

If your documents are in a language other than English, you must provide both certified translations and a certified copy of the original document.

An acceptable certified document is a photocopy of the original document, signed and certified as a copy of the original by a public notary, registered agent of JCU, or a representative of the institution. Copies of certified copies are not acceptable.

If you meet the academic requirements for this course, but not the minimum English requirements, you will receive a packaged offer. This includes the opportunity to take an English language program as well as an offer to study a degree at JCU. Your JCU degree offer will be conditional on you gaining a certain grade in your English program.

Course Entry Requirements

Guaranteed entry where applicants have obtained a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or passes in at least 3 academic subjects from Year 12 or equivalent; or

Satisfactory completion of the JCU Foundation Program with a minimum GPA of 4.00

Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band P Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy.

Additional completion

Minimum overall attendance level of 80% across all scheduled activities for the duration of the Diploma, including any support classes such as English language development. Students failing to maintain the required attendance will need to undertake additional requirements prior to graduating from the Diploma.

Course articulation

Students who are awarded the JCU Diploma of Technology are eligible for entry into the JCU Bachelor of  Information Technology and the JCU Bachelor of Technology and Innovation (majoring in Data Science), provided they also meet the relevant English Language entry requirement for the degree.  Applicants meeting the entry requirements for these JCU Bachelor programs will receive credit for all subjects successfully completed in this Diploma.

Successful Diploma students may alternatively be granted credit for subjects successfully completed under this course towards any other Bachelor degree for which they satisfy the entry requirements.

Courses are charged per year of full-time study. International course fees are reviewed annually and subject to change.

A Student Services and Amenities Fee is payable per subject up to a maximum amount per year.

Student Visa holders must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their Student Visa (except Norwegian, Swedish and Belgian citizens).
