Not sure if you're ready for university?

If you’re unsure about your readiness for study at JCU, try the Readiness Assessment, a pre-enrolment online tool that offers prospective JCU students the opportunity to gauge their readiness for university study. It can be completed at your own pace and there is no time limit.

The assessment has four sections:

  1. Personal readiness assessment

  2. Reading comprehension

  3. Numeracy assessment, and

  4. Maths assessment, for those wishing to enrol in a course with a heavy emphasis on mathematics, such as Engineering, Physics and Accounting.

Prospective students who complete the assessment will receive detailed feedback and, if necessary, referral advice. Some students may be referred to the JCU Tertiary Access Course (TAC), a free 6 month preparatory course offered in Cairns and Townsville twice a year.

After completing this readiness assessment, please send us an email to: pathways@jcu.edu.au, to let us know you've completed the assessment. Please include your name and contact details. Alternatively call us on 4781 5740 to notify us that you have completed it.  It may be useful to book an appointment with the pathways team to discuss the most suitable pathway to higher education success
