Learning Advisers provide the following services to all JCU students:
Provide you with feedback on your English language and numeracy skills and provide support and resources to improve these skills.
Workshops and individual consultations to help students improve organisational skills, writing skills, reading and note taking, studying for exams, oral presentations, referencing, English grammar, maths, statistics and science.
Courses and programs to assist in the transition to tertiary study including a Student Mentor Program and Faculty specific orientation programs.
Individual and group support for International students and for students for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL)
Your student mentor will be a second- or third-year student, in a similar course to you, who can answer your questions and help you settle into university life - whether you are studying on or off campus.

Our EAL specialists will assess which support options are most appropriate for you. Support options include individual consultations on the Learning Advice Corner/Desk, facilitated study groups and EAL workshops to develop English language speaking, listening and writing skills
