Academic Staff

The Diploma staff are expert in their fields. They have many years of educational experience and are committed to providing the highest quality of teaching and learning possible.  Our staff have a deep knowledge of what you need to be successful at university and are dedicated to providing you with a highly supportive learning environment.

Learning Advisers

Learning Advisers provide the following services to all JCU students:

  • Provide you with feedback on your English language and numeracy skills and provide support and resources to improve these skills.

  • Workshops and individual consultations to help students improve organisational skills, writing skills, reading and note taking, studying for exams, oral presentations, referencing, English grammar, maths, statistics and science.

  • Courses and programs to assist in the transition to tertiary study including a Student Mentor Program and Faculty specific orientation programs.

  • Individual and group support for International students and for students for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL)

Student Mentors

Your student mentor will be a Bachelor Degree student, who can answer your questions and help you settle into university life - whether you are studying on or off campus.

Careers

JCU Careers and Employment Service supports JCU students with their career planning by offering the following services:

English as an Additional Language (EAL) staff

Our EAL specialists will assess which support options are most appropriate for you. Support options include individual consultations on the Learning Advice Corner/Desk, facilitated study groups and EAL workshops to develop English language speaking, listening and writing skills

Student Support Staff

Our dynamic range of students support staff understand University study can be challenging. We understand that our students need support to reach their potential – whether it's academic support or personal support and provide a range of services to assist with this.
