JCU offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the broad areas of Healthcare Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Sciences.

We have a strong student support network, small class sizes and on-campus and online study options. You will learn from our dedicated staff who have designed their courses to include field trips and placements throughout rural and remote locations in Australia. You can also expect hands-on opportunities in real-life settings to practise your skills and knowledge and to help you become job-ready.

The Mackay Education and Research Centre (MERC) is located in new cutting-edge research and teaching facilities based in the Mackay and Mater hospitals and provides practical learning experiences for our medical, nursing and dentistry students. Nursing students can also study at JCU’s Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health, which offers courses with a special emphasis on rural, remote and Indigenous healthcare. JCU Thursday Island opened in 2003 and offers learning facilities for nursing students based in the Torres Strait region.
