"After completing my Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters of Physiotherapy Practice Degree and graduating from La Trobe University, I was actively seeking a new graduate physiotherapist position in a public hospital. The Allied Health Rural Generalist Training Position was advertised by my current workplace for a new graduate physiotherapist to complete. I was very interested in expanding my existing knowledge and skills and was open to the idea of online learning, so I did not hesitate to apply for the position.
The course was beneficial for my professional development. I expanded my professional contacts with other physiotherapists and allied health professionals from all over the state. I was able to work alongside my colleagues to develop and complete an innovative state-wide amputee project, which was an invaluable learning experience as a new graduate. This course has given me the opportunity to advance my knowledge and further my success in the early stages of my career, which contributed to myself obtaining a permanent position at my current workplace.
The lectures/tutors provide great support when learning online through JCU, with online discussion boards and question forums to help guide you at each stage of the course."

Rural Generalist Program
“One of the ways we are improving rural practice in Queensland is by training in rural generalist practice. I am studying a Graduate Diploma in Rural Generalist Practice through JCU, which is allowing me to advance my clinical skills and develop leadership styles. One component of the program is to develop a workplace-based improvement project so you can translate learnings from the studies to sustainable health programs tailored to our communities. My project is to improve access and service delivery through an inpatient telehealth Physiotherapy model of care.”
