The Atherton Tablelands, located in tropical north east Queensland, rise 700 metres from the coast inland from Cairns. The tablelands is a diverse region of rainforest and waterfalls, spectacular landscapes and crater lakes. It is well worth delegates considering spending a few extra days to enjoy the region and all it has to offer. Information
The conference venue is located on the shores of Lake Tinaroo, which is approximately 1.5 hrs drive from Cairns.
Getting to Tinaroo
International and Domestic Arrivals
Cairns Airport is the closest airport to the Atherton Tablelands.
International connections can arrive directly into Cairns, or transit through Sydney or Brisbane. Delegates arriving via Sydney or Brisbane should allow at least 3 hrs between flights as they will need to transit from the international to the domestic terminals to board a connection to Cairns. There are passenger bus services between the terminals.
Domestic flights with connections to Cairns depart from every capital city.

From Cairns to Tinaroo

The conference is being held in a very small town and there is very limited public transport to and from nearby larger centres. All the major car hire companies are located in Cairns city and/or at Cairns airport.

Friday 28th June - A bus will be provided to transport delegates from the conference venue to Cairns Airport. It will depart the venue at approximately 8 am.
Field Trip Friday 28th June -The field trip bus will depart the venue at approximately 8.30 am and return delegates to Cairns at approximately 6 pm. The field trip will terminate at Cairns airport. Delegates will need to make their own accommodation arrangements in Cairns if they plan to stay on, or should organise their departure form Cairns Airport to be later than 9 pm, to allow for delays.
The conference venue – Tinaroo Lake Resort - is located in the very small township of Tinaroo (Pop. 260), and many facilities (e.g. supermarkets, restaurants) are not available. Delegates who do not have their own transport will be given an opportunity to purchase items from the nearby town of Atherton.
Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park has a café-shop where meals and basic necessities can be purchased.
Lunches, morning and afternoon teas, will be provided for conference delegates on Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th, and Thursday 28th, at the conference venue.
