Directorates within the Education Division

The Education Division strives to provide a seamless transition for students throughout their journey at JCU. The Division encompasses a broad range of Directorates to deliver this.

Centre for Education and Enhancement

The Centre for Education and Enhancement supports innovation and best practice in learning and teaching to ensure our students have the best possible learning experiences. Working across all JCU campuses and centres, the Directorate supports programs in:

  • Staff induction and ongoing professional learning
  • Learning technologies
  • Curriculum and assessment design
  • Pathways, student transitions and careers
  • Academic language, learning and numeracy
  • Services to ensure equity and student well being

The Directorate delivers a number of University-wide projects and programs that support academic staff, including delivery of the Graduate Certificate of Education (Academic Practice) and support for teaching and learning grants and award applications.

Student Services

The Student Services Directorate is responsible for managing and coordinating a broad range of student administrative and enquiry management functions and services that are critical to the student experience. Services cover all stages of the student life cycle, from initial enquiry to graduation. Areas within the Directorate include:

  • Academic administration and enrolment
  • Client services and communication
  • Student finance and scholarships
  • Student examinations and graduation
  • Student matters including complaints, reviews and appeals

Library Services

The Library Services Directorate provides knowledge services to enable JCU's high-quality education and world-class research through innovative discovery and access to:

  • Information resources, scholarly and cultural collections
  • Learning facilities
  • Library and research services in the physical and virtual environments

Quality Assurance and Evaluation

The Quality Assurance and Evaluation Unit provides enabling operations to assure education quality including regulatory and policy compliance, evaluation and quality enhancement of the learning and teaching and student experience. The Unit has an enabling function for the university in:

  • Coordination and support for coursework reviews
  • HESF Compliance Self-assessment and Gap Analysis
  • Student Feedback support
  • Learning Analytics support
  • Risk Assessment for risks to quality about learning and teaching and student experience
  • Education Quality App developments
  • Evaluation and reporting including on legislative requirements, learning and teaching, and student experience outcomes and innovations
